Here is a list of all states that have a state-specific Bill of Sale with a link to download. Keep in mind the PrivateAuto Bill of sale is accepted in most states and is available for electronic signature in the app upon closing a deal.
States That Have a State-Specific Bill of Sale
Click on the state you're purchasing a vehicle in to access their government-issued bill of sale. States that have an asterisk (*) next to it have conditions that may require the bill of sale to be notarized.

- You can use the government-issued bill of sale or write your own bill of sale, but it must be notarized either way.
- PrivateAuto bill of sale cannot be used.

- The state recommends having your bill of sale notarized but does NOT require it.

- A separate bill of sale is not required if the selling price is included on a title with a notarized assignment.

- A notarized Bill of Sale is required only if the vehicle is less than 7 years old.
- PrivateAuto bill of sale can be used as long as the vehicle is more than 7 years old.

- A notary is only required if you use their state-specific bill of sale or if the generic bill of sale you are using has a notary box. You can use a generic bill of sale and it doesn't have to be notarized if there is no notary box.
