Florida - How To Transfer A Title
Before beginning, please note the following:
- Only use black or blue ink. Any other color will void the title.
- Do not erase anything or use white-out.
- Write neatly.
- Do not use nicknames.
- Mistakes can void the document.
Florida Title Transfer
Front of Title:
*Red = Seller, Teal = Buyer, Green = Lienholder*
- If applicable, the lienholder will release the lien by entering the required information.
- The seller enters the buyer's name and address
- The seller enters the exact odometer reading, the date the odometer reading was from, the sale price, and the date of the sale.
- Mark whether the odometer is a 5 or 6-digit odometer.
- Don't include tenths of a mile.
- Only check boxes 1 or 2 if the mileage is in excess of the odometer's mechanical limits or the reading is not the actual mileage.
- The buyer prints and signs their name.
- If there is a co-buyer, they will also print and sign their name.
- The seller prints and signs their name.
- If there is a co-seller, they will also print and sign their name.
What to Bring to the Motor Vehicle Service Center
- The Original Title
- Application for Certificate of Title With/Without Registration
- Notice of Sale
- Valid Driver's License
- Proof of Auto Insurance
- Approved Loan Documentation
- If applicable
- The Vehicle Being Sold
- Payment for Applicable Fees
