Georgia - How To Transfer A Title
Before beginning, please note the following:
- Only use black or blue ink. Any other color will void the title.
- Do not erase anything or use white-out.
- Write neatly.
- Do not use nicknames.
- Mistakes can void the document.
Georgia Title Transfer
Front of Title:
*Green = Lienholder*
- If applicable, the lienholder will release the lien by entering the required information.
- If there is more than one lienholder, they will also release the lien by entering the required information.
Back of Title:
*Seller = Red, Buyer = Teal*
- The seller enters the buyer's name, street address, city, state, zip code, county, and then the sale date.
- The seller enters the exact odometer reading.
- Don't include tenths of a mile.
- Only check boxes 1 or 2 if the mileage is in excess of the odometer's mechanical limits or the odometer reading is not the actual mileage.
- The seller prints and signs their name.
- If there is a co-seller, they will also print and sign their name.
- The buyer prints and signs their name.
- If there is a co-buyer, they will also print and sign their name.
- If applicable, the buyer enters the name and address of the lienholder to appear on the new title.
What to Bring to the County Tag Office
- Original Title
- Motor Vehicle Title/Tag Application
- The Lienholder's Information
- If applicable.
- Name and Address.
- Emissions Inspection Certificate
- If applicable.
