Nevada - How To Transfer A Title
Before beginning, please note the following:
- Only use black or blue ink. Any other color will void the title.
- Do not erase anything or use white-out.
- Write neatly.
- Do not use nicknames.
- Mistakes can void the document.
Nevada Title Transfer
Front of Title:
*Red = Seller, Teal = Buyer, Green = Lienholder*
- If applicable, the lienholder will release the lien by entering the required information.
- The buyer enters their name, address, city, state, and zip code.
- If there is a co-buyer, they will also enter their name.
- If there is a co-buyer, check "AND" or "OR" to determine whether both buyers or just one need to sign the title in the event they are to sell the vehicle.
- "AND" = Both must sign the title.
- "OR" = Only one must sign the title.
- The seller enters the exact odometer reading and signs and prints their name.
- Don't include tenths of a mile.
- Only check boxes 1, 2, or 3 if the mileage is in excess of the odometer's mechanical limits, the reading is not the actual mileage, or the vehicle is exempt (model year over 9 years old.)
- If there is a co-seller, they will also sign and print their name.
- The buyer checks the box stating they are aware of the odometer certification and signs and prints their name.
- If there is a co-buyer, they will also sign and print their name.
Back of Title:
*Teal = Buyer*
- If applicable, the buyer will enter the name, street address, city, state, and zip code of the lienholder to appear on the new title and the lien amount.
- If there will not be a lien on the new title, write "NONE."
What to Bring to the DMV
- The Original or Duplicate Title
- Bill of Sale
- Bring your PrivateAuto bill of sale.
- Proof of Lien Satisfaction
- If applicable.
- Application for Vehicle Registration
- Valid Nevada Auto Insurance Policy
- Valid Form of Identification
- Proof of VIN Inspection
- Only if the car is being titled in Nevada for the first time.
- Payment for Applicable Fees
