New Hampshire - How To Transfer A Title
Before beginning, please note the following:
- Only use black or blue ink. Any other color will void the title.
- Do not erase anything or use white-out.
- Write neatly.
- Do not use nicknames.
- Mistakes can void the document.
New Hampshire Title Transfer
Front of Title:
*Green = Lienholder*
- If applicable, the lienholder will release the lien by entering the required information.
- If there is more than one lienholder, they will also release the lien by entering the required information.
Back of Transfer:
*Red = Seller, Teal = Buyer*
- The seller enters the buyer's name, address, zip code, and date of sale.
- If there is a co-buyer, the seller will also enter their name.
- The seller enters the exact odometer reading and checks the box stating that the mileage listed is the actual mileage and signs and prints their name.
- Don't include tenths of a mile.
- Only check boxes 2 or 3 if the mileage is in excess of the odometer's mechanical limits or the reading is not the actual mileage.
- If there is a co-seller, they will also sign and print their name.
- The buyer signs and prints their name.
- If there is a co-buyer, they will also sign and print their name.
- If applicable, the buyer will enter the lienholder's name, address, and zip code to appear on the new title and the lien date.
- If there is to be no lien on the new title, write "NONE."
What to Bring to the City Clerk's Office
- The Original or Duplicate Title
- Bill of Sale
- Bring your PrivateAuto bill of sale.
- VIN Verification Form
- If applicable
- Valid Form of Identification
- Payment for Applicable Fees
