New York - How To Transfer A Title

Before beginning, please note the following:

• Only use black or blue ink. Any other color will void the title.
• Do not erase anything or use white-out.
• Write neatly.
• Do not use nicknames.
• Mistakes can void the document.

New York Title Transfer

Back of Title:

*Red = Seller, Teal = Buyer*

1. The seller enters the exact odometer reading, checks box 1 to certify that the reading is the actual mileage, then checks the box stating whether the odometer is a 5 or 6-digit odometer.
   1. Don't include tenths of a mile.
   2. Only check boxes 2 or 3 if the mileage is in excess of the odometer's mechanical limits or the reading is not the actual mileage.
2. The seller marks whether the car has been wrecked or not.
3. The seller signs and prints their name, enters their street address, city, state, and zip code, then the date.
4. The buyer signs and prints their name, enters their street address, city, state, and zip code, then enters the date.
