Alabama Vehicle Registration 

Failure to provide the following can delay the registration process.

  • Properly Filled Out Title.
  • Bill of Sale
    • Bring your PrivateAuto bill of sale.
    • If you have questions regarding the bill of sale, contact your local MVD.
  • VIN/Ownership Documentation Inspection.
    • If the vehicle has an out-of-state title.
  • Previous License Plates
    • Only if you want to transfer them to the new vehicle.
  • Odometer Disclosure Statement
    • Only for vehicles less than ten years old.
  • Valid Alabama Auto Insurance Policy.
  • Proof of Residency for your County.
  • Valid Form of Identification
  • Most Recent Registration Documents for the Vehicle.
  • Emissions Test
    • The state of Alabama does NOT require emissions testing.

  • Payment for all Applicable Taxes and Fees

*Residents of Alabama have 20 days from the purchase date to register their vehicle.
