Failure to provide the following can delay the registration process.

Properly Filled Out Title.
Bill of Sale
- Bring your PrivateAuto bill of sale.
- If you have questions regarding the bill of sale, contact your local MVD.
VIN/Ownership Documentation Inspection.
- If the vehicle has an out-of-state title.
Previous License Plates
- Only if you want to transfer them to the new vehicle.
Odometer Disclosure Statement
- Only for vehicles less than ten years old.
Valid Alabama Auto Insurance Policy.
Proof of Residency for your County.
Valid Form of Identification
Most Recent Registration Documents for the Vehicle.
Emissions Test
- The state of Alabama does NOT require emissions testing.

*Residents of Alabama have 20 days from the purchase date to register their vehicle.
