Kansas Vehicle Registration
Failure to provide the following can delay the registration process.
- Properly Filled Out Title
- If the title is held by a lienholder, ask them to fax a copy of the title to your county treasurer.
- Bill of Sale
- Bring your PrivateAuto bill of sale.
- If you have questions regarding the bill of sale, contact your local DOV.
- Valid Form of Identification
- Valid Kansas Auto Insurance Policy
- Title and Registration Application
- Motor Vehicle Examination Certificate
- Only if the vehicle was purchased out of state or has an out-of-state title.
- Emissions Test
- The state of Kansas does NOT require emissions tests.

*Residents of Kansas have 60 days from the purchase date to register their vehicle.
