Kentucky Vehicle Registration
Failure to provide the following can delay the registration process.
- Properly Filled Out Title
- Bill of Sale
- Bring your PrivateAuto bill of sale.
- If you have questions regarding the bill of sale, contact your local DMV.
- Application for Kentucky Certificate of Title or Registration
- Only required for vehicles whose titles were issued before February 2000
- Vehicle titles issued February 2000 and after need to fill out the assignment and transaction form found on the back of the title.
- Sheriff's Inspection
- Only if the vehicle was brought into Kentucky from another state.
- Valid Form of Identification
- Valid Kentucky Auto Insurance Policy
- Your Social Security Number
- Emissions Test
- The state of Kentucky does NOT require an emissions test.

*Residents of Kentucky have 15 days from the purchase date to register their vehicle.
