Louisiana Vehicle Registration
Failure to provide the following can delay the registration process.
- Properly Filled Out Title
- Bill of Sale
- Bring your PrivateAuto bill of sale.
- If you have questions regarding the bill of sale, contact your local OMV.
- Vehicle's Current Registration
- Vehicle Application
- Odometer Disclosure Statement
- Only for vehicles that are less than ten years old.
- This can be filled out on the back of the title.
- A Loan Document
- If applicable
- This can include:
- UCC-1 Financing Statement
- Security Agreement
- Valid Form of Identification
- Valid Louisiana Auto Insurance Policy
- Proof of Sales Tax Payment
- Only if you paid tax in another state and will be claiming credit for it.
- Emissions Test
- The state of Louisiana requires emissions testing in specific areas.

- Payment for all Applicable Taxes and Fees
*Residents of Louisiana have 40 days from the purchase date to register their vehicle.
