New Mexico Vehicle Registration
Failure to provide the following can delay the registration process.
- Properly Filled Out Title
- Bill of Sale
- Bring your PrivateAuto bill of sale
- If you have questions regarding the bill of sale, contact your local MVD.
- Valid New Mexico Auto Insurance Policy
- Valid Form of Identification
- Application for Vehicle Title and Registration
- Release of Lien Form
- If applicable
- Power of Attorney
- Only if someone other than the resident applies.
- Proof of Residency
- You will need to bring two documents.
- Bank statement, pay stub, New Mexico car registration certificate.
- Emissions Test
- Required for vehicles registered in Bernalillo County.

*Residents of New Mexico have 30 days from the purchase date to register their vehicle.
