Failure to provide the following can delay the registration process.

  • Properly Filled Out Title
  • Bill of Sale
    • Bring your PrivateAuto bill of sale.
    • If you have questions regarding the bill of sale, contact your local DMV.
  • Valid Form of Identification
  • Valid Texas Auto Insurance Policy
  • Application for Texas Title and/or Registration
  • Safety Inspection
    • The state of Texas requires all vehicles to receive a safety inspection.

  • Emissions Test
    • The state of Texas requires vehicles registered in certain counties to get an emissions test.
    • Counties Subject to an Emissions Test: Brazoria, Collin, Dallas, Denton, El Paso, Ellis, Fort Bend, Galveston, Harris, Johnson, Kaufman, Montgomery, Parker, Rockwall, Tarrant, Travis, and Williamson.
