Failure to provide the following can delay the registration process.
- Properly Filled Out Title
- Bill of Sale
- Bring your PrivateAuto bill of sale.
- If you have questions regarding the bill of sale, contact your local DMV.
- Application for Registration
- Application for Certificate of Title and Registration
- Only required if the vehicle was not previously titled in Virginia.
- Proof of Identity and Address
- Valid Virginia Auto Insurance Policy
- If you don't have auto insurance, you can pay the $500 uninsured motorist fee.
- Safety Inspection
- The state of Virginia requires all vehicles to pass a safety inspection.
