Nebraska - How To Transfer A Title
Before beginning, please note the following:
- Only use black or blue ink. Any other color will void the title.
- Do not erase anything or use white-out.
- Write neatly.
- Do not use nicknames.
- Mistakes can void the document.
Nebraska Title Transfer
Front of Title:
*Red = Seller, Teal = Buyer, Green = Lienholder*
- If applicable, the lienholder will release the lien by entering the required information.
- If there is more than one lienholder, they will also release the lien by entering the required information.
- The seller enters the exact odometer reading.
- Don't include tenths of a mile.
- Only check boxes 1 or 2 if the mileage is in excess of the odometer's mechanical limits or the reading is not the actual mileage.
- The seller signs and prints their name, enters the sale date, and the buyer's name, address, city, state, and zip code.
- If there are co-sellers, they will also sign their name.
- The buyer signs their name.
Back of Title:
*Teal = Buyer*
- The buyer enters their name, address, city, state, and zip code.
- If there is a co-buyer, they will also enter their name.
- If applicable, the buyer enters the name, address, city, state, and zip code of the lienholder to appear on the new title. The buyer then enters their signature.
- If there is no new lienholder, write "NONE."
- If there is a co-buyer, they will also sign their name.
What to Bring to the DMV
- The Original or Duplicate Title
- Bill of Sale
- Bring your PrivateAuto bill of sale.
- Vehicle Inspection Form
- Only if the vehicle was purchased out of state
- Application for Certificate of Title
- Payment for Applicable Fees
