Maryland Vehicle Registration

Failure to provide the following can delay the registration process.

  • Properly Filled Out Title
  • Bill of Sale
    • Bring your PrivateAuto bill of sale.
    • If you have questions regarding the bill of sale, contact your local MVA.
  • Maryland Safety Inspection Certificate
    • Must be done at a licensed Maryland inspection station.

    • Valid for 90 days.
  • Odometer Disclosure Statement
    • Only needs to be done if it was not filled out on the back of the title.
  • Application for Certificate of Title
    • This document is used for titling and registration.
  • Security Interest Filing Statement
    • If applicable
  • Lease Agreement and Proof of Monthly Payments
    • If applicable.
  • Power of Attorney
    • Only if someone other than the resident registers the vehicle and signs the titling forms.
  • Valid Form of Identification
  • Valid Maryland Auto Insurance Policy
  • Emissions Test
    • Emissions tests are required in the state of Maryland.

*Residents of Maryland have 21 days from the purchase date to register their vehicle.
