Maryland Vehicle Registration
Failure to provide the following can delay the registration process.
- Properly Filled Out Title
- Bill of Sale
- Bring your PrivateAuto bill of sale.
- If you have questions regarding the bill of sale, contact your local MVA.
- Maryland Safety Inspection Certificate
- Must be done at a licensed Maryland inspection station.

- Valid for 90 days.
- Odometer Disclosure Statement
- Only needs to be done if it was not filled out on the back of the title.
- Application for Certificate of Title
- This document is used for titling and registration.
- Security Interest Filing Statement
- If applicable
- Lease Agreement and Proof of Monthly Payments
- If applicable.
- Power of Attorney
- Only if someone other than the resident registers the vehicle and signs the titling forms.
- Valid Form of Identification
- Valid Maryland Auto Insurance Policy
- Emissions Test
- Emissions tests are required in the state of Maryland.

*Residents of Maryland have 21 days from the purchase date to register their vehicle.
