Minnesota - How To Register My Vehicle
Minnesota Vehicle Registration
Failure to provide the following can delay the registration process.
- Properly Filled Out Title
- If the title is not available, you may use a current vehicle registration card.
- Bill of Sale
- Bring your PrivateAuto bill of sale.
- If you have questions regarding the bill of sale, contact your local DVS.
- Application to Title and Register a Motor Vehicle
- Notification of Assignment, Grant of Secured Interest
- Only if the title shows that a lien has been satisfied.
- Valid Form of Identification
- Valid Minnesota Auto Insurance Policy
- Copy of Lease Agreement or Power of Attorney
- If applicable.
- Must include the leasing company's Minnesota Tax ID number.
- Emissions Test
- The state of Minnesota does NOT require emissions testing.

*Residents of Minnesota have ten days after the purchase date to register their vehicle.
