Missouri Vehicle Registration
Failure to provide the following can delay the registration process.
- Properly Filled Out Title
- Bill of Sale
- Bring your PrivateAuto bill of sale.
- If you have questions regarding the bill of sale, contact your local DOR.
- Application for Missouri Title and License
- Vehicles purchased out of state must also provide VIN and odometer inspection certificates.
- Valid Missouri Auto Insurance Policy
- Vehicle Inspection
- Missouri requires all vehicles to pass a vehicle inspection, with a few exceptions.

- Must be performed by an authorized Missouri inspection station.
- Inspection certificates are valid for 60 days, including the day of the inspection.
- Notarized Notice of Lien, Lien Release, or Authorization to Add/Remove Name from Title
- If applicable.
- Odometer Disclosure Statement
- Only for vehicles 20 years old and newer.
- Emissions Test
- The state of Missouri requires all vehicles to pass an emissions test, with a few exceptions.

*Residents of Missouri have 30 days from the purchase date to register their vehicle.
