Failure to provide the following can delay the registration process.
- Properly Filled Out Title
- If you don't have the title due to financing, please provide the following:
- Name and address of the lienholder
- Loan account number
- Proof of payment of or remittance of the 5% excise tax.
- If you don't have the title due to financing, please provide the following:
- Bill of Sale
- Bring your PrivateAuto bill of sale.
- If you have questions regarding the bill of sale, contact your local DOT.
- Valid Driver's License
- Proof of Legal Name
- Cannot be your driver's license.
- Application for Certificate of Title and Registration of a Vehicle
- Certificate of Vehicle Inspection
- Emissions Test
- Emissions tests are NOT required in the state of North Dakota.

*Residents of North Dakota have 5 days from the purchase date to register their vehicle.
