Failure to provide the following can delay the registration process.

  • Properly Filled Out Title
    • If you don't have the title due to financing, please provide the following:
      • Name and address of the lienholder
      • Loan account number
      • Proof of payment of or remittance of the 5% excise tax.
  • Bill of Sale
    • Bring your PrivateAuto bill of sale.
    • If you have questions regarding the bill of sale, contact your local DOT.
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Proof of Legal Name
    • Cannot be your driver's license.
  • Application for Certificate of Title and Registration of a Vehicle
  • Certificate of Vehicle Inspection
  • Emissions Test
    • Emissions tests are NOT required in the state of North Dakota.

  • Payment for all Applicable Taxes and Fees

*Residents of North Dakota have 5 days from the purchase date to register their vehicle.
