Failure to provide the following can delay the registration process.

  • Properly Filled Out Title
  • Bill of Sale
    • Bring your PrivateAuto bill of sale.
    • If you have questions regarding the bill of sale, contact your local BMV.
  • Valid Ohio Auto Insurance Policy
  • Ohio Driver's License or Proof of Social Security
  • Power of Attorney
    • Only if one or more owners cannot be present when registering the vehicle.
  • Emissions Test
    • The state of Ohio requires vehicles in specific counties to get an emissions test.

*Residents of Ohio have 30 days from the purchase date to register their vehicle.
