How to Pay With Cash

Whether a seller accepts cash depends on the payment preferences they set on their listing. Check the listing page to see accepted options, or message the seller through in-app chat to ask.

For Buyers

  1. Open the listing. Scroll to the seller's accepted payment methods.
  2. If cash is listed, arrange the payment directly with the seller in person. PrivateAuto does not process cash transactions.
  3. If cash is not listed, message the seller through in-app chat. Sellers can update their preferences at any time.

Tip: Consider using PrivateAuto Pay instead. Both parties can send or receive $250,000 or more instantly, with no need to carry cash.

For Sellers

You can control which payment methods you accept from your listing settings.

  1. Go to your listing and open the payment preferences section.
  2. Select your accepted options: PrivateAuto Pay, Cash, Crypto, or a combination.
  3. Save your preferences. Buyers will see your choices on the listing.

If you allow cash, plan to count and verify the full amount in person at the time of sale. If you allow crypto, you and the buyer arrange and complete that transfer outside of PrivateAuto using your own wallets. PrivateAuto does not handle crypto payments.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I pay with cryptocurrency?

Yes, if the seller has enabled crypto as a payment option. Crypto transactions happen entirely outside PrivateAuto. You and the seller agree on the currency and complete the transfer using your own wallets.

Is there a maximum for cash payments?

PrivateAuto does not set a cash limit, but large cash transactions carry real safety and fraud risks. PrivateAuto Pay eliminates both. It supports $250,000 or more in transfers instantly, any time of day.

Can I accept both cash and PrivateAuto Pay?

Yes. You can enable multiple payment options on your listing and let the buyer choose.
